Engineering Department: Our Story
Innovative Concepts was started in 1989 by Lonny Rollins. Mr. Rollins started helping businesses use technology to be more efficient. This use of technology would many years later be called ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). The first projects included writing applications manually in C that included server and client side access to databases, even before SQL servers existed. This led to other projects, like:
Electronic Golf Scoring - 1992
For tournaments held at Pebble Beach golf course, we developed an electronic scorekeeping software. Players would scan their score card, then enter their score. Since most tournaments actually have many "games" played, the system would automatically compare each player in real time. This system even tied into the hotels closed circiut television system so people could follow along in their rooms.
Truck-Weigh System - 1994
We developed the first live truck weighing system. This would weigh semi-trucks as they drove down the road and show the driver important details as he/she drove down the road. This system was so precise that we could tell you where a 5-lb bag of sugar was.
Top Level Domain - 1996
Yes, we developed one of the top level domains. We cannot say which one, but you know of .com, .net, and .org. We built one of the other domains completely from the ground up. We were the first one to actually take registrations and actaully work. We even were the first to accept online credit card payments, about a month before Network Solutions did (They were .com, .net, and .org)
As you can see, we have been behind the scenes of many technological advances over the last 20+ years. We have been lucky enough to build technology into just about every industry that exists.

We have built everything from a completely autonomous flying blimp to a system the weighs semi-trucks as they drive down the road. Medical lasers, Temerature control systems, and Wireless Communications Protocols are just a few more.
We recently participated in a nationwide evaluation of Engineering firms. They interviewed, and interviewed, and interviewed every engineering team that was classified as a small to medium business. They even visited the top 10, and were looking to find the top 5. We were chosen as one of the top five Engineering Firms in the US!
We manage the largest databases in the United States. Society as a whole has become well equiped to collect data. However, when it comes to organizing it in such a way that we can identify what is important, most fail miserably. Through our design, planning, and expertise, we have become known in the industry as the place to see regarding large amounts of data.
