Did You Know?
Windows Vista
Windows Vista has been out for a while now, and it’s the only Microsoft operating system available. As promised, MS has really cranked up the security on Vista, and mostly, this is a Good Thing. However, if you are a business with your own older server, and Windows 2000 or XP machines and you use roaming profiles, once a profile has been accessed on a Vista computer, it will no longer be accessible from Windows 2000 or XP. This has caused no end of problems for companies in the midst of a cyclical upgrade.
There are a couple of ways around this. The first is to get new computers with XP on them. We will be selling Dell XP Home and XP Pro computers at least through the end of the year. The second is to upgrade your server to Windows Server 2003. The third is to upgrade all of your workstations at once.
I believe that Dell is still selling way more XP than Vista business machines. If you need a Dell XP computer, give us a call and we’ll quote one for you.
